Second Draft Magazine

FINISHED magazine

This is my final draft magazine cover. I kept in mind the feedback I recieved for my first draft when creating this and by doing so, I believe I will appeal to my target audience. I used photographs of nearly all of the main cast, which offers several different storylines at once, something that I think is important when advertising a new soap opera. I used lots of very bold bright colours to make it as eye catching as possible and so mean that when people are choosing a soap magazine, their eyes will instantly be drawn to mine.

First Draft Poster

FINISHED POSTER

This is my finished poster design. I tried to be in keeping with feedback I recieved regarding ym first draft, in that I simplified the poster by making the majority of the photos black and white, only keeping Helen, the road sign and the full cast photo in colour. By doing this, it made the poster look slightly simpler but still had all of the photographs I wanted to use on it. I changed the contrasts on the photos to make them more eye catching and bold, and I think this looked very effective, especially with Helen, because it made her appear more powerful. By having her in colour amongst the black and white photographs it shows that she is a main character and will be very central to the soap opera.

First Draft Magazine

Magazine

I created a first draft of my magazine cover to get my basic ideas down and to gain feedback from classmates and people in my target audience.
The various bits of feedback I recieved included
"Good bold colours"
"Good use of central photo of pregnant teen because it shows that it will become a prominant storyline"
"Too much white space - include more photos and storylines"
"Put all integral information down the left side so it is seen when stacked on shelves"
"The font doesnt seem to fit with the style of product you are making - maybe re-think this?"

Using this feedback I will create a final draft magazine cover. I will try to incorporate the ideas given to me, such as getting more storylines on the front cover and changing the font of the text so that it appeals to my target audience.

Rough Cut of Trailer

This is the second draft of our trailer which we created using our previous feedback. General feedback this time was positive, saying that our music choice suited the different plots within the trailer. However, our music needs to make use of better transitions where we joint different bits together, as everyone who watched the trailer picked up on this detail.

Feedback regarding the footsteps throughout the trailer was positive, but it was said that the ones used in the very first shot are too heavy for the stiletto heels that Helen is wearing and so we will try to re record this. It was also suggested that we carry the footsteps on throughout the whole trailer, as opposed to just in parts of it.

We were told that the audio levels needed to be lowered in the part where the two women are speaking because they are drowned out by the volume of the music, so we will change this for our final trailer.

It was noted that the reveal shot of Dannielle being pregnant was far more effective with the music in place and so we have decided to leave this shot in our final trailer.
